Al Ange was born in Boise, Idaho in Dec 1945. He graduated from high school in 1964, then attended Boise State for one year before enlisting in the Navy in 1965. Al served aboard subs for 28 years before retiring in 1993 with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. His assignments include serving aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Bluefish, USS Casimir Pulaski, and the USS Jacksonville. Now a disabled veteran, he has served at the Squadron 14 Staff, Holy Loch, Scotland; Polaris Material Office, Charleston, SC; Trident Training Facility, Bangor, WA; Squadron Six Staff, Norfolk, VA; and the Heavy Weight Torpedo Facility, Yorktown, VA.
Al was a member of the Navy Skeet Team from 1986 to 1993. He served as a national director for the Navy during 1989-1993 and also served on the All-American committee in 1992 and 1993. During his shooting career, Al has won 11 Military World Titles and was a member of 14 NSSA All-American Teams from 1986 to 2000. He has also won numerous Virginia State Champion titles. In Virginia, Al served as the state chief referee, 1988-1994; VSSA vice president 1997-1999; and VSSA president 1999-2001. Al is a life member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, National Sporting Clays Association and the National Rifle Association.
Al has over 20 years experience building custom leather products. Although he currently makes belts, wallets, and other accessories, his main focus is on shooting products such as shell pouches and range bags. His high quality shell pouches for the clay target sports are famous for their quality and durability.
His clients include many famous names like Wayne Mayes, Todd Bender, Robert Paxton, John Herkowitz, Stuart Brown, Mark Vaillancourt, Clay Baldwin, Kurt Grates, Bill Burke, and many others.

All of the animal hides used in Al Ange Leather products are obtained through brokerage firms who strictly follow all guidelines for the legal sale and trade of animal hides and skins. Each hide comes with its own serial number for tracking the country of origin and the date the animal hide was harvested.
